Mount Faber Leisure Group marked a milestone for its key brand, the Singapore Cable Car, which turned 40 years old.

A brand transformation from The Jewel Box to Faber Peak Singapore was launched, in conjunction with the anniversary celebrations. This new brand represents the long term vision of delivering a multi-layered and vibrant cluster of dining, entertainment and leisure experiences within the heart of Mount Faber Park for local residents and international visitors alike.

Asia's First Ever DC Super Heroes Cable Car Experience
The 10-month action-packed programme featured 45 cable car cabins decked out in DC Super Heroes graphic wraps on both the cabins' exterior and interior. And that's not all - the one-of-a-kind experience where everyone can 'fly' with the DC Super Heroes onboard Singapore Cable Car would be the first to use in-cabin Augmented Reality (AR) technology to bring the characters and their mission to life.

First in the World: Angry Birds Cable Car ride
The 6-month long campaign based on the popular game was packed with 30 Angry Birds-themed cabins, interactive game stations, creative workshops and quirky Angry Birds meals.

Mount Faber Leisure Group was pleased to announce the reopening of its cable car station and the official launch of 67 technically advanced 4th generation cable cars and a bejewelled VIP cabin, the first of its kind. Built at a cost of $36million, the new cable cars are bigger in capacity and consequently able to accommodate the increase in passenger traffic into Sentosa.

Mount Faber Leisure Group celebrated 35 successful years in business.

The Jewel Box was awarded National Safety and Security Award 2009 (Cluster Category) as part of the HarbourFront Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) Cluster

A $36 million transformation of the cable car commenced, including a complete replacement of the cable car system, a World's First 7* VIP Jewelled Cabin and 67 new 4th generation cabins that lit up like gems in the night. The cable car ride was rebranded as the Jewel Cable Car Ride.

The Jewel Box officially opened an iconic green extension. Built at a cost of S$10 million, the extension houses two new restaurants; Empress Jade and Sapphire. All the dining outlets are rebranded with gem-inspired monikers.

Faber Tours was awarded Top 100 Best Performing SMEs in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, by Dun & Bradstreet.

The Jewel Box was awarded Singapore Service Star by Singapore Tourism Board.

Singapore Cable Car introduced the 'World's First Glass-Bottomed Cable Car Cabins'.

Singapore Cable Car celebrated its 25 millionth rider and achieved ISO 9002 certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a Norwegian service provider for risk management.

Singapore Cable Car celebrated its 20 millionth rider.

  • 1994

Singapore Cable Car underwent a S$11 million makeover, which increased number of cabins from 51 to 80 and doubled passenger capacity per hour from 700 to 1400.

The company was also presented with the world's only life-size cable car cabin by Lego.

Singapore Cable Car played host to the sportsmen and officials of the Southeast Asian Games.

Singapore Cable Car played host to the contestants of the Miss World Pageant.

Singapore Cable Car celebrated its 10 millionth rider.

To meet increasing demand, another 8 cabins were added, bringing the total number of cable car cabins to 51.

  • 1974

A S$5.8 million project, the cableway officially opened with 43 cabins that had to be manually opened and closed by cable car attendants.

  • 1972

Work started to link Mount Faber and Sentosa through a cableway.
